"Newbies" is a support group for families new to CHESS and/or new to homeschooling. The group will meet on a monthly basis for classes taught by more experienced homeschoolers on topics that we believe will make the entry into the world of homeschooling easier to navigate for those less experienced. In addition to the classes, the leadership is willing to aid in pairing veteran homeschoolers with newer homeschoolers in a mentoring relationship for ongoing advice and support. We hope that through mentoring and classes those who participate will gain knowledge, skills, and confidence that will enable them to be more joyful and effective home educators.

• April: Bookfair and Choosing Curriculum by Lonette White
• May: Question & Answer session
